We received an email from a friend and on the
subject line it said; “Your first Christmas
card”.

We do not know the author of this version
of Clement Moore’s poem, but we would
like to share it with you anyway.
———————————-

Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

Why the PC Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas – no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a ‘ Holiday ‘.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe’s the word Christmas – was nowhere to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate ‘Winter Break’ under your ‘Dream Tree’
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
not Happy Holiday!

Christmas diversions

December 21, 2012

Join with us as we go strolling down memory
lane while smoke gets in our eyes as we make
our way to be seen at the hop. Yes, it is 11
and a half minutes of the Best of Times for us
baby boomers. A friend shared it with us,
and we’re sharing it with you.

Since it is the season, here’s an interactive
Christmas card for you.
If you enjoy it, please send it to a friend.

How about a card with a Tucker on it?

A short while ago we received our first
email Christmas card of the year, and
we thought we’d share it with you. If
you have already seen it you can roll
your eyes and make a funny sound, and
if you haven’t seen it we hope you enjoy
it.

Send a card

November 30, 2012

heroes

If you have seen the email that asks you to
send mail to an injured soldier at Walter
Reed Army Medical Center, you should read
this first.

Any cards addressed to “A Recovering Soldier”
or “Any Wounded Soldier” at the Walter Reed
address will not be accepted. Remember, the
Walter Reed Army Medical Center closed for
good in 2011.

At that time the hospital merged with the
National Naval Medical Center and became the
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

There is still a way to send a card, and a
little time to do so. The Red Cross has
“Holiday Mail for Heroes” that delivers the
cards to hospitalized military, active duty,
and veterans and their families.

Address the cards to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes
PO Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD
20791-5456

Cards have to be postmarked no later than
Friday, December 7, 2012.

The American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes
site has the most current information and
card guidelines.

If you can find it in your heart to send a
card, we’re sure there will be a very happy
service member on the receiving end.
