Hocus pocus

October 3, 2019

The Democrat candidates for president are going crazy about all the ‘gun violence’ and are not to be deterred by facts. Since it is October the FBI has released their Uniform Crime Report for 2018. And not to burst said candidates bubble, but violent crime is down.

All violent crime is down 3.3% percent from last year and 9% below
the 2009 levels. It is also up 4.7% above the 2014 level. Aggravated
assaults accounted for 66.9% of violent crimes in 2018, robbery was at
23.4%, rape 8.4%, and murder 1.3%.

So why not enact stricter laws and penalties for the assaults and
leave the guns out. But no, the mental midgets in Congress want to
take our assault rifles. Isn’t it justified you ask? No.

Of the 14,123 murders in 2018 an estimated 10,256 involved firearms.
But that is misleading. Murders committed with rifles of any kind were
297 last year. Let that sink in. 10,256 murders by firearms, 297 with
rifles, including the assault rifles.

Yet many Democrats want to ban ‘assault rifles’? We’re told that last
year one was 5 times more likely to be killed with a knife than any
any rifle. The AR-15 and Ak-47 are rifles. Quit shipping the bull.
We’re getting tired of hearing it.

Instead, read the Constitution and follow your oath to protect and
defend it. Quit trying to railroad our president and do what you were
elected to do. If you want to get rid of gun violence do something to
get guns out of the hands of people who shoot other people. The
hocus pocus is getting old.

Bound to happen

November 30, 2017

Our run of good luck just came to screeching halt. Yesterday
was our youngest sons’ birthday and when he tried to call us he
couldn’t get through on our landline. He called the wifes’ cell
phone and told her, then got hold of me online.

I checked said landline only to discover there was no dial
tone. A call to Mediacom had them rebooting our modem twice
which didn’t fix the problem. So we were told there is a wide
spread outage that runs for Indiana to our little haven on the
east coast of Iowa.

This has been an ongoing problem and we were told they would
keep us in the loop by cell phone, but they had no idea how
long this outage would be. Here’s a novel idea; fix the damn
problem. At least we have access to our computers.

The last time this happened a friend tried to call then died
the next day and I never found out what he wanted. I don’t want
that to happen again. I’ve always been a man of my word and
when somebody tries to reach me for help, and can’t, I am not
a happy camper.

We’re happy with cable, the wife likes the TiVo, our internet
is faster than ever, but we keep having problems with the
phone. Not many people have my cell phone number as I can’t
hear it ring half the time and putting on vibrate doesn’t help
as I can’t feel it vibrate against my leg.

Hope this doesn’t last as long as the last time, and thanks
for letting me vent. Enjoy our Thursday, it’s one step closer
to the weekend. Now I need some coffee and need to look for a
bigger mug.

It’s getting old rant

November 2, 2017

Did you ever have one of those days when you get a gut feeling
that things aren’t going to go as planned and then it gets
crazy? My day was yesterday. Let’s just say things got stupid
fast and went down hill from there.

I won’t go into details or name names, but when people come at
me with baseless accusations and toothless threats I react.
Throw in some second hand rumors and it gets crazy. Something I
learned a long time ago is you can’t make everyone happy but
you can sure piss them off.

For the life of me I cannot understand why people hear some
rumors and assume the worse. Then, with no actual information
but armed with rumors, like to get in my face. And after all
that these people get angrier when a glimpse of the old me pops

Well, spread the gossip and believe the rumors if you must.
It won’t bother me because those who know me won’t believe and
I don’t care what those who don’t know me believe. There are
times I think I was born 100 years too late. Our current
politically correct, hurt feelings society it tiring.

But I will promise this, all this nonsense aimed at getting
me to feel guilty over something I didn’t do, or shame me into
doing things I can’t do will not work. So play your games, act
the victim, and blame me if you must. When you can do so with
the truth let me know.

That being said, I’m not angry, hate no one, have done nothing
wrong, and will continue on as I have been. Please feel free to
think the worst if it makes you happy.

Sorry for the rant, but enjoy our Thursday. Here on the east
coast of Iowa it looks gloomy, but the critters and birds are
enjoying the slightly warmer weather.

We’ve gone crazy

August 13, 2017

Recent events have caused me to think of the state of our
current society and in all honesty I have to say too many of us
are crazier than an outhouse rat. Bear with me and I will try to

If I understand things correctly a white supremacist group
planned a demonstration and when word got out a counter group
organized a counter protest. At that point it would seem that
everything was as it should be.

Then came word both groups had helmets, weapons, and chemical
deterrents to the opposition. At that point, if one is honest
with themselves, it became a riot. We’ve heard talking heads
blame our president, the mayor, law enforcement, the white
supremacists, and the devil himself.

Throw in a guy in a car running over some of the counter
protesters and it’s a recipe for disaster. First off, the white
supremacists have every right to assemble peacefully as do the
the counter protesters. You may not like what they are saying
but they have the right to say it.

Please tell me how any of those getting blamed could have
stopped what happened. In a rational, educated society this
should not have happened. Said supremacists would have had their
little parade, met a planned destination, had their meeting,
and went home.

We can not mute one segment of our society because it offends
another segment. If what the group is saying offends you, don’t
go to their meetings! It seems to me that ones claiming the
supremacists are the fascists are the fascists.

This whole dividing our citizens has been planned and this
event is proof the plan is working. A state of emergency has
declared? If everyone would take a deep breath, read the laws
concerning assembly and follow them, this never would have

Grow a pair. Or better yet, grow up. That’s my opinion and
you’re welcome to yours.

Alrighty then

April 26, 2017

Due to some recent events I’ve been pondering a few things so
when I went outside and witnessed the question mark in the sky.
It brought a smile, but I’m going to vent a little anyway.

None of my questions have been answered yet, and perhaps
never will be, but it makes one wonder. There are people among
who don’t care for other people, emit a perceived pleasant
personality in our presence, and feel the need to bad mouth us
behind our backs like we are a demon from the deepest depths
of Hades.

I’ve been trying to decide if said plastic people do this to
us as a means to shame us into changing or enrage us to a feud.
While I’m sorry my impulsive, seemingly chaotic lifestyle bothers
you so much, after 66 years of surviving by my rules and not
yours, things won’t change.

You must believe things are perfect in your little portion of
the world while mine is not. So I have a news flash for you.
I will keep on keeping on so give it your best shot. Those who
really know me will inwardly giggle at said accusations and
those that don’t might believe them.

This is exactly why I don’t care for most social functions.
Those I prefer to associate with aren’t afraid to a address an
issue to my face instead of spreading it through the grapevine.
If you need more fodder you could also tell everyone I beat
the puppy I don’t have and argued with a priest once.

Posting will go back to as normal as it gets here tomorrow. We
hope you enjoy or Wednesday, and don’t worry. They’ll be another
one next week.

A rare rant

October 27, 2016

The old adage “When cardinals appear angels are near”, meaning
a deceased loved one is making their presence known, occurred to
me today. I immediately thought of Mom and asked if I could take
a picture.

This bird sat until I took a picture and flew off before I
could take another. Mom was one of strongest women I have ever
met in my life yet I wondered why she chose now to let me know
I was in her thoughts.

Back when I was the one your mother warned you about she had
an uncanny knack of calling when I was up to something. I took
it as a sign something was heading my way I wasn’t going to
like. Sure enough when I received news later I was ready to
deliver justice.

But a calming inner voice told me to look into matters and
not make any rash decisions. If I find out what I heard is
true someone had better give their soul to Jesus because their
ass in mine.

I won’t get into specifics but suffice it to say I won’t do
anything until such a time I am convinced the rumor is true.
People who know me remember the old me and believe him to be
a thing of the past but this just isn’t so.

Many years were spent changing my temper and my actions yet
that doesn’t mean they won’t resurface for the right cause.
There are some that say nothing is written in stone, but those
people have never met me.

And while I remember this I also remember a promise I made to
Mom on her death bed. That promise is still kept, and will be,
as long as I am able. I don’t want to go down that path again,
but I do not fear it. Things happen for a reason and this just
may be a test. I pray it is.

Now I need a pizza as my gut is telling me it knows where one
is. Sorry for the rant and please enjoy the weekend.

Of monkeys and men

September 2, 2015

Earlier this year Dr. Ben Carson said ” I believe I came from God,
and you believe you came from a monkey, and you’ve
convinced me you’re right.” That would explain a lot.

America has been inundated with people who believe
they are victims, are outraged at their living
conditions, and blame their circumstances on us.
Flags are racist, white people are the reason
black people can’t get ahead, the greedy
corporations are keeping them from obtaining the
American dream, and so on.

But here is the real deal. Someone is responsible
for the problems these people face, it just isn’t
who they think it is. They run around making noise
and trying to make everyone else’s life miserable
and all they have to do to find an answer is look
in the mirror.

We are supposed to be a higher life form than
animals with cognitive thinking yet every time
something doesn’t go their way they crap in their
own kitchen.

By that we mean that burn down their own
neighborhood, loot their own stores, and cause mass
destruction. And when the smoke clears who do they
blame? Why the police, us white folks, and slavery.

The time is past due for personal accountability
to make a return. If you aren’t happy with your
station in life, change it. If you riot, loot, and
burn things down, you go to prison. AND pay for
what you have destroyed and stolen.

If you chant that you want to kill other people
you should be labeled a hate group and if you act
on said threats should be treated as a terrorist.
We don’t know why you insist on acting like this
but it doesn’t impress us and will not improve your
life. If you want respect, stop acting like the
monkey and start acting like the trainer.

Here’s the deal rant

May 13, 2015

America has lost its way. All around the rest of the
world adults are thinking we are a country full of
people who should put on grown up clothes and stop
acting like spoiled children.

Before you call me crazy hear me out. There is
only one thing that can truly destroy our country
and that is us, the American people.

We have turned into a bunch of sniveling name
calling idiots that are fodder for comedy shows in
other countries.

Everybody has problems. Our country has seen its
share of ups and downs. And yet some of us don’t get
it. Nobody can destroy OUR country unless WE let them.

We have to present a united front and not be
splintered according to race, sexual orientation,
religion, political party, social status, or other
labels. We have to turn you against us into
us against them.

As long as we are divided we give an unfair
advantage to those who would do us harm. We don’t
have to like each other, we don’t even have to
respect each other, but the more our unity
disintegrates the more harm is being done.

We do not need diversity. Look around, we’ve been a
country of immigrants from all over the world for a
few centuries already.

It’s time we take pride in our country again. Not
the politicians, not certain individuals who live
here, but in our country. It’s time we stop
trying so hard to change it and start saving it.

Potty-mouthed princesses?

October 22, 2014

We will forewarn you that today’s post will have
offensive material in it. Because of the subject
matter that can’t be helped. If dropping the
f-bomb offends don’t watch the video.

I was offended by the video and believe people
involved should be in jail. Here’s what happened.
Opening a newsletter I was greeted with the
headline “Potty-Mothed Princesses Drop F-Bombs
for Feminism”.

This video should upset you. Unless you believe
young girls should be allowed to use gutter

Turned out said princesses were between the ages
of 6 and 13. The video also features a 12-year-
boy wearing a pink gown saying “When you tell boys
not to ‘act like girls’ it’s because you think it
is bad to be a girl.”

What! Then to claim it is a pro-feminism video
only adds fuel to the fire. This begs the question,
how far does our freedom of speech go?

To have a 6-year-old girl say that pay inequality
is more offensive than the word f*** is not my idea
of freedom of speech. It is child abuse.

Sorry state

September 25, 2014

When did we become a caricature of what we once
were? At some point our country went from a place
where citizens had a ‘can do’ attitude to a place
I don’t recognize where people say ‘who’s going to
help me’?

We used to be united as a people yet now we are
deeply divided. The race card is predominant in
this division but just as problematic is the ‘I
am offended’ card and the trashing of religious
and gun rights.

While perusing headlines today we ran across one
that illustrates our point. It read “HS football
coach fired for not stopping players’ prayers?”

Catalina Foothills High School officials claim
they allow voluntary prayer when it is lead by
students, but district administrators claim said
coach crossed the line by promoting student

So because coach Gary Weiss didn’t stop the
praying he has been fired and banished from school
property. What? At a time when the citizens of our
country need God the most we push him away?

Have these people even read the Bill of Rights?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment
of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;
or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and
to petition the Government for a redress of grievance.

You have the right to be offended by the various
religions and you have the right to petition the
government for redress of your grievance, but you
do not have the right to stop others who are
exercising their right to give a nod to their God.

We Christians are offended that you are offended
by our faith. If you don’t like it there are many
other rights for you to try and micro-manage. Leave
ours to us.
