Gone to Heaven

Bill Edmond will be laid to rest tomorrow in the National
Cemetery on Arsenal Island with full military honors. Seems
fitting the forecast calls for rain because even the angels
are feeling the loss.

Bill was our 2nd Ward Alderman for six years until 2015. He
was a husband, father, Vietnam veteran, and former
semi-pro athlete, He sold cars, liked horses, loved being
outdoors, and was a former TV weatherman on WQAD. He also
liked history, around the civil war era if I remember

But I’ll always remember a man who didn’t pay lip service and
was a man of his word. You knew where he stood, and if you
didn’t he’d gladly tell his opinion. If he told you we would
look into something it was as good as done. People like are a
rarity today.

He was 67 years old, born in Pennsylvania, married in Nevada,
went to high school in Michigan, then attended college and
played semi-pro baseball and football in Texas.

His comments and corrections on this blog will be treasured,
and missed as will he.

Our sincere condolences to the family.

And he didn’t get into the name calling from what I can remember. One of the very, very , very few public servents that did not seem to be out to get even with someone or see how much of other people’s money they could get.

I didn’t know Mr. Edmond, but I wanted to give my sympathy to all who knew and loved him. He sounds like a good honest person that the area will greatly miss.
