Saint Patrick’s Day cats

We’ve been busier than a cat covering crap on a
cement floor. Sometimes busy is a good thing to be and
sometimes not. This week falls near the bottom end.

You may remember I got the furnace going again, but
when I woke up this morning it was out. So we called
the local furnace tech and two showed up! They tried
the exact same things as I did and pronounced it dead.

Normally that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing but
the low Saturday is supposed to be in the 20s. While
it is still a comfortable 65 degrees in the house we
felt it time to replace the now officially dead appliance.

Tomorrow morning the new one is supposed to arrive
and we’re assured it will be installed and the dead
one taken away by the end of the day. The new one
should even lower the utility bill as the old one is
about 2-5 years past its life expectancy.

To top it all off we’ve been to the vets’ more than we’ve
gone to visit relatives this week with a sick cat. She
had her operation this morning and will be ready to
come home tomorrow. So we’ll be busy tomorrow too as
we get groceries, let the furnace people in at 7:30 am,
and pick up the cat at nine.

After all this over I’m going to be like the cats and
kick back and enjoy the end of the week. They seem to
have it down to an art form. We don’t know what’s
going to go wrong next but we’ll be ready for it.

We’ll end with a Saint Patrick’s Day toast:

Here’s to cheating, stealing, fighting, and drinking.

If you cheat, may you cheat death;

if you steal, may you steal a woman’s heart;

if you fight, may you fight for a brother;

and if you drink, may you drink with me!
