Fun for the weekend

The frost is on the pumpkins here in Iowa and the
daylight shortens everyday. But gearheads are still
arranging some shows and we’ll list a few here.

Saturday, October 17th is the End of Summer Fun
Day at the Conesville Dragway in Conesville, Iowa.
Gates open at 8 and racing starts at 10. If you
hang out long enough there will be a hayrack ride
Saturday night.

Saturday, October 17 is the Pine Hill Cemetery
Association Family Fun Day from 10-4 at 1530 East
39th Street in Davenport, Iowa. Antique cars,
tractors, and hayrack rides. This is a non-judged

Saturday and Sunday, October 17,18 is the 37th
Annual Antique Automobile Club of America Fall Swap
Meet held at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa.

Now, some distractions. Ever wondered how many
different combat jets the U.S. Navy has had in its
long history? Watch the video and wonder no more.

Since we mentioned the Navy, this video has the
top 10 World War II battleships and battlecruisers.

Street racing has been getting a lot of attention
because of recent TV shows on the subject so here
is a short video on a rat rod race.

As we get older we notice that the talented ones
among us keep getting younger. This young lady
singing an old Elvis hit is proof.

To the naysayers out there we say it has been
proven that speed doesn’t kill. It’s the sudden
stop that gets you. Enjoy the weekend.
