Memorial Day

Monday we honor all those who gave the ultimate
sacrifice. The following video drives that point
home better than we could, with one exception. 4
minutes and 47 seconds into the video comes a
picture of a curved wall filled with gold stars,
with no explanation.

The Freedom Wall is at the World War II Memorial
and each gold star represents 100 American
military deaths. There are 4,048 gold stars on
said wall. The 405,399 American military personnel
who perished or remain missing from WWII is second
only to our loss of 620,000 Americans during our
Civil War.

“Here We Mark The Price Of Freedom” is inscribed
below the Freedom Wall.

The IAVA (Iraq and
Afghanistan Veterans of America) asks us to join
them in their annual Go Silent campaign.

You may go to the link to take the pledge that you
will observe a full minute of silence at 12:01 pm
ET on Memorial Day. Or you could just do it on your
own. Enjoy the day but please don’t forget.
Comments are always welcome.
