Gang numbers and symbols

If you came across some grafitti, would you know what 274 stood for? How about 410 or a 5 point star? We figured it was time again for a post on gang numbers and symbols. People look but don’t see, they listen but don’t hear. We feel this is why some people fall victim to the criminal element. That’s the reason for this post.
The codes listed above, and many more, are on the Gangs Or Us website-

The Folk Nation major gangs are; Black Gangster Disciples, Black Disciples, Gangster Disciples, Imperial Gangsters, La Raza, Spanish Cobras, Latin Eagles, Latin Disciples, Maniac Latin Disciples, Simon City Royals, Spanish Gangster Disciples, Two Sixers and International Posse. Some of the Folk Nation symbols are six-point star, heart with wings, raised pitchforks, dice, and individual gang letters. To read more about the symbols used go to-
This section is two pages long, but worth the read.

The major gangs of the People Nation are; Latin Kings, Vicelords, Spanish Lords, El Rukns, Bishops, Gaylords, Latin Counts, and Kents. The Vice Lords are highlighted in this section because they are the oldest and largest Hispanic-led gang in Chicago. Some of the People Nation symbols are five-point star, five-pointed crowns, gang intitials and more. To look at the three page section, go to the webiste-

For anyone interested, here is a webpage that is taken from a book on the Gangster Disciples entitled ‘The History of the Gangster Disciples in Their Own Words’ by Rod Emery-

And lastly, here’s a link to a blog post on ‘Secret Codes and MySpace pages of the Black Gangster Disciple Nation’. It’s informative and has links and other posts on the subject. To look it over go to this link-

That’s some of the stuff that stuck when we threw the idea against the wall. We hope you look at the information and draw your own conclusions. These groups are out there and they’re getting smarter. They are keeping a low profile and it’s working. Even if you don’t have problems in your neighborhood, even if you think we don’t have gangs here, we hope to at least prepare you to spot areas that do have gang activity.
