Bush Library flooded open thread

A tragic flood this morning destroyed the personal library of President George W. Bush.   The flood began in the presidential bathroom where both of the books were kept.
Both books have been lost.    A presidential spokesman said the president was devastated, as he had almost finished coloring the second one.
The White House tried to call FEMA, but there was no answer.

Considering the amount of ‘executive privilege’ that the current members of the executive branch are using one has to ponder the amount of actual documents that would be on display at the library. I would guess that the fire protection system would have to be extensive to save all that shredded paper…..
    just guessing

With all selling of naming rights going on lately of public buildings,
this has me thinking, What about our Sky Bridge? We could get big bucks
from a company allowing them to put their name up in lights over River

I’m sure with all your help we can find a sponsor for our bridge to “no
where”. I have thought of 3 possibilities 1) ROTO-ROOTER, they have
history of dealing with [stuff] for many years. 2) WAIST MANAGEMENT,
They deal with things people don’t need or want. 3) 1-800-GOT-JUNK,
We may have to allow them to repaint the bridge.

Any ideas for the parking ramps??

How about: The Trojan Bridge or The Viagra Falls Bridge. Or maybe just a Big old sign that says: Davenport Iowa We Sure Know How To Waste Money or You Think Our Downtown Looks Bad From Down There You Should See It From Up Here.

Alderman Meyer: thanks for looking out for public property and trying to keep the kids safe. You might be interested to know that this afternoon (tuesday) about 2 pm that the kids had driven their car across the lawn and parked it on the cement apron that goes around the skatepark. This park needs constant supervision. Thank you Keith for putting up with all that administration does to you. The taxpayers of Davenport applaud your efforts.

I like the ideas. I knew about the cars near the skatepark. My son was down there and said a red Honda was on the apron, and a black Honda was on the grass. This has got to stop.

When I was a kid rules at the public pool went like this. Each hour the lifeguards got everyone out of the water. They checked it for drowning victims, lunch leftovers, and generally anything the average person dare not swallow with the chlorine. The guards cleaned it up then let all the swimmers back in the water. Sometimes the break was 5 minutes. Sometimes longer depending on the amount of crap that had to be skimmed out.

The skatepark is nothing but a public swimming pool without the water, lifeguards, perimeter control or water. Add everything to the skatepark that a pool has except the water. Follow the vacate and clean up routine for the park area around the bowl. The cleaner the users keep it the more time they will have to skate. Cause and effect. And while someone is at it, shorten the chains on the picnic tables so they can’t be thrown over trash cans. That idea is from someone without a degree in urban planning.

The problems that are happening at the skatepark are identical to why Moline closed, then dismantled their skatepark.

You probably are unable to hear the Jim Fisher show Keith, but he really stood 100% behind you today, and most of the community feel just like he does.

Thank you Keith. Malin is out of control and so is the skate park.
