Rumors are funny things. Usually I just ignore them unless the same one keeps popping up. Last week was one of those times when I heard a rumor from two different people and thought I’d look into it; especially since it invoved me.
The rumor was that a few months ago I cornered a City Official and ranted, raved, and threatened. I didn’t remember the incident so I did what I always do in such cases and looked into it. I contacted the official and asked if such an event took place. He confirmed that nothing happened. I was glad to hear that I hadn’t lost any more brain cells.
I’ve also come to the conclusion that teenage boys aren’t a good mix with fathers who are fussy about their tools. Until our son started using my tools I could find any tool I own in seconds. Now I need a full day to find some of them. I have some simple rules when it comes to using my tools and they aren’t a big secret. I thought I’d list them to remind a certain someone.
If you borrow a tool put it back where you found it. If you get said tool dirty, clean it. If you break it, replace it.
This week has been a busy one for our police department. We’ve had at least two stabbings, shots fired calls seem to be on the rise, and there were some arrests involving crimes against children. I’ve also heard of a house that’s causing one neighborhood a lot of grief. I’ve told these people they should call the police when there is gunfire or parties, but they won’t. They claim to be afraid. In instances like this the neighbors have to get pro-active for anything to work. Calls have to be made, police and others need to be informed. People who live
outside of your neighborhood don’t know you have a problem unless you let them know.
And lastly, June 1st through the 7th is National CPR/AED Awareness Week. During that week the Red Cross has a deal for those of us who want to learn CPR or get a refresher course. Anyone who signs up for a class that week will be able to take a friend to the class free. If you would like to learn a little more about it go here.
Comments are always welcome.
I read in this morning’s paper that Ian Frink will not run again as an alderman at large. That means that this fall there will be at least one new member of the council elected.
Anon.,
I saw that also. Only one in the running so far so theres plenty of room for more.
Cruiser- I dont know you, but from reading your comments on this blogg, it would not even occure to me that you did such a rude thing to an official or anyone for that matter. I cant say that about the other blogs I read, but I think your reputation is a good one.
my voice,
Thank you for the kind words.
Word is that Gluba will not run again stating politics is bad for the real estate business. Time will tell, I think he was good for us.
Walnut,
Haven’t heard that one before. It could be another interesting election.
How about some of you get together and get candidates up and running? Then you can stop the evil Malin and D-1. Otherwise, you are no different then the people who won’t call the cops. The problem just stays and gets worst.
My mom attended one of Ray Ambrose’s ward meetings. He said he is running again. She said her and the neighbors where all glad because he helps them.
Nitrous55,
Sounds like a plan; now we just have to find out who’s running.
my voice,
Glad to hear that. I’ve never had a problem with Alderman Ambrose.
Nitrous 55 how about you getting something started. It may be a start. It got to start some place.I don’t think we need any D-1 candidates.
Could use help in ward 6
I actually don’t quite fit with most of your views. I don’t think I have stated my opinion on most of the issues.
I’d say meet at the library, but everyone is scared of the bums. My place is too small, the bums won’t even go near it, and I don’t want to make it any easier for the stalkers to find me.
Oh, sixth ward… Dale Gilmour.
yes, Gilmore is a great idea!
This has been a quiet one so far. I guess we’ll have to wait and see who’s going to run.
Actually, I believe Jeff Justin is doing a pretty good job, especially when compared to Charlie Brooke and Bob McGivern before him. I don’t agree with him on some points, but overall my complaints are minimal. Under NO circumstances would I consider running again. Thanks for the letter of support, though.
Dale Gilmour is not on D1 team.
