We mentioned we get emails. Well, we got one a few days ago that had us scratching our heads. Brian sent one with the subject line “Tube sox, bowling balls, & cheerleaders- Christmas surprise!
At first we wondered if it was promo for a porn movie, or a really bad slasher flick. But we know Brian is a businessman so we opened it. Ends up it is a promotion, but for Brian’s business, American Muscle. His company deals with Mustang parts and other neat things, and the email was all about some neat giveaways. Since he got us interested with the subject line, here’s the email-
AmericanMuscle.com has always been known for running its crazy contests on both its BLOG and also on the forums it sponsors! Their latest “All I Want For Christmas Wish List Contest” on AllFordMustangs.com required forum members to post up two wish lists, one list of what their Mustang wanted for Christmas, and one wish list of what they wanted personally for Christmas, for a chance to win one of three $100 AmericanMuscle Gift Certificates! Pretty sweet, but that is not where the real story is.
Here is where the story gets really good! At the end of the contest, American Muscle’s Forum Representative AMNick picked out nearly 20 items worth over $2000 from people’s personal wish lists, including a Digital Camera, Bowling Ball, a 204 Piece Craftsman Tool Kit, a Nintendo Wii, toys for a member’s 3 year old daughter, and even some retro 80’s tube socks, and actually sent them the items on their lists, all on the company dime!
When asked if he was afraid of getting fired for what seemed like an incredible act of lunacy, AMNick responded, “Absolutely not! I had the full support of American Muscle behind me on this one! The thing about American Muscle is we can fully relate to our customers because we are real Mustang people too. With the currently devastated economy, we just thought this would be a great way to help out our fellow Mustang enthusiasts in these financially difficult times.”
Needless to say there were some very surprised, and very happy people on AllFordMustangs.com that day!

—————–Addendum———————
I’ve always said that car people are some of the nicest people in the world. Brian proved me right again with his latest email, and I thought it would be a perfect ending to this post. Here it is-
Hey Cruiser,
Have you had a chance to look at the press release I sent over Friday? It was one of the cooler contests we have run and we surprised a bunch of our customers by giving away over $2,000 worth of personal gifts for the upcoming holiday. Anyway I was hoping you had a chance to read it and share it with your readers as an American Muscle advertiser.
A quick update about the giveaway. One of the entrants asked for a few items for his young daughter so we decided we would start the future ‘Stang enthusiast early in life by buying her, her very own Barbie Edition Mustang Power Wheels (see attached). Since Aftermarket parts is our specialty we couldn’t just leave the power wheels stock, so we decided to spice it up by also sending some decals, Mustang stickers and even racing strips.
Talk to you again soon.

Here’s an odd thing. When I tried opening your link to AmericanMuscle.com, there was an error message that WORDPRESS CAN’T LOCATE THE REQUESTED PAGE, but I tried it on Google, and it came right up.
I have a friend who is restoring two pony’s, so he will enjoy that site, as I forwarded it to him this morning.

The link is now fixed. Thanks.

anonymous,
Sorry about that. I fixed the link when I added to the post.

I received an email from the person I sent this website to, and he said that bringing these two cars back to original was costing more than he could afford, and had to sell them partially completed to someone else. Thought that might interest you cruiser.

anonymous,
It takes a lot more money than people think to restore old cars. If you can’t do some of the work yourself it really gets expensive. It’s nothing anymore for someone to have $100,000 in a car that cost less than $2,500 when new. I hope they didn’t take too big a loss on them.
