East Locust street is closed between Virginia St. and Pershing Ave. This is due to a sinkhole. There will be detours, but it’s expected to take about a week before this section reopens. If you travel this stretch of East Locust, you may want to add a little extra time, or look for an alternative route. This may be an inconvience, but we’re sure the city will get it repaired as soon as possible.

You can only hope that it is not the same company to repair Locust Street that is doing the blacktop overlay to the 15 blocks of N. Division. What they have done is great, but what is difficult to understand is why they have so few people working on such a big job. Many times you drive by and there is just a handful of people on site. Division is a main artery for the city, and you would think that they would be required to work at least two shifts and even weekends to get that job completed with as little inconvenience as possible to the thousands of cars that pass there each day.

One of the big problems this summer with road repair has been the weather. We barely had a full week of scattered days in June that it didn’t rain.

anonymous,
We posted what we heard on the scanner. Public works said about a week. We would imagine that is rain free days. We have driven by Division, and what’s done does look good. We hope they get done soon.
