Before we get into into trouble we would like to say that this post
is not meant to be racist, sexist, or politically correct. It is an
opinion and only that. If someone has a problem with this post, remember,
it is MY opinion. It is not meant to be the view of any political party,
religious entity, club, group, gang, or any other orginization. So if
you don’t like MY opinion, don’t blame George Bush. He doesn’t know we
wrote it.
Why should we keep changing the laws instead of enforcing them? Why
do we tiptoe around certain subjects so as not to offend militant
fringe groups? And while we’re at it; why do our prisons have to be
over-priced day care centers with all the amenities, instead of what
they were designed for, punishment? Prisons should be made so nobody
wants to go back.
We watch our police do an excellent job, only to have the offenders
end up with probation because they had it rough as kids. And we keep
re-electing the judges. We watch the criminals that do get sentenced serve
about a third of their sentence, and then watch them be released early.
We also believe guns don’t kill people, people kill people. More
restrictive gun laws aren’t going to do anything but hassle the
legitimate gun owners. We are not the ones committing crimes with
handguns. Enact concealed carry laws, and stiffen the penalties for
felons in possession of firearm crimes.
We seem to have lost our bearing in our country. we let politicians
continue to give themselves hefty raises while they push our companies
overseas, and throw our money around like drunken sailors on leave.
And after all that, we have the audacity to re-elect them.
At events we have people disrespect our National Anthem; and burn our
flag because it’s their right. We’ve let the foxes run the henhouse.
Then we have racism. We think the black people are more racist than
us caucasians. They want to be called African Americans, even
though most were NOT born in Africa, NOR could they find it on a map.
We are ALL Americans. My ancestors didn’t ensalve your ancenstors. We’re
sure somebody did, we read about it in school. So before you point a
finger, please make for sure you aim it at someone who is guilty of the
crime.
And we think Affirmative Action should be eighty-sixed. Job opportunities
should be based on merit, not the your ethnicity. If we truely are
a non-biased, non-sectarian, non-racist, politically correct country,
shouldn’t everyone be equal? And if we are all truely equal, wouldn’t
that mean that the best quallified person ends up with the job? And if
the best qualified person for the job gets the job, isn’t that a good
thing? They are more productive, and save the company time and money
that would have went for training.
It doesn’t take a village to raise a child. It takes at least one
parent doing their job. Yes, it’s hard to raise a kid alone, hold down
a job, keep up the housework, and make it to school functions. People
have been doing it for a while now, so it can be done. Somebody has to
be the adult. It’s not easy or fair, but things worth having rarely are.
We guess we can’t leave out the gay, lesbian, transexual, alternative
lifestyle group. See above. If you want to get married, we have no
beef with that. We don’t feel this group should be treated any
different than any other group.
We believe our first language is English. It should be our only
language. If you want to live here, you should at least learn it.
We don’t think it’s too much to ask.
And lastly, we think Cher should actually, finally, really retire.
That’s our rant, comments on these subjects, or whatever’s on your
mind are welcome.

It all sounds pretty accurate to me. Especially the prison as punishment part. As long as I have been alive the prison system has been attempting and failing in the process to rehabilitate criminals. Maybe it is time to go back to the old chain gang philosophy. And perhaps some crimes do not need prison time but an old fashioned flogging in the public square. Rehabilitation is not working the prison system has turned into a higher learning institution that teaches criminals how to become bigger crooks and beat the system. What we currently have is a failure to communicate. What we need is a way to communicate that criminal behavior will be meet with equal and if needed, forceful punishment.

Thanks for the nod. It’s getting to the point that the prisoners know what to tell the people to help them get out. The prisoner gets what he wants, out; the parole board gets what they want, a prisoner who says he’s sorry. The only people who don’t get what they want is us. We want the prisoner behind bars to make our cities safer. Some groups would claim flogging is torture. Maybe we could put them in stocks and let the public give them wet willies.

Bringing it to a local level, things need to be tougher at the Scott County jail. They set watching TV all day, and have meals catered in from the Hy Vee Store.

I think all convicted prisoners should make small rocks out of big rocks, about 12 hours a day. The other 12 hours they can think about the following day, when they have to do it all over again. Seven days a week.
If a person of color tells me they are African-American, I ask them how long they have been in this country. If they tell me they were born here, I remind them that they are an American-American of color. I’m not a German-American, or a Swedish-American, or an Irish-American. I was born here, so that makes me an American-American, just like anyone else who was born here. I believe that by calling yourself anything but an American, you are separating (read segregating) yourself from others.

This whole HyVee thing needs to be put in perspective. It’s not like they are bussing the prisoners out to graze on the buffet line. Anyone who has shopped around for caterers in the QCA knows that $3 per person is unbelivably cheap. One also has to consider that there has to be some health regulations and permits and such that a company has to have to even be considered for the job. How much do they usually spend per prisoner? How many kitchen attendants/guards are there to make sure all the knives are accounted in the kitchen?
As for this gay marriage thing in CA. I think that the state shouldn’t be telling churches who they can marry.

The County jail is more like a holding tank for the really bad boys. It does seem a little extravagant if the meals are catered though.

We agree. There are plenty of things the prisoners could be doing, and 12 hours isn’t
extreme. We also noticed that some minorities claim them want equality, then do their darndest to set themselves apart.

This whole Hy-Vee thing is a moot point. They are only using Hy-Vee during the remodeling. The new part of the jail is open, but they are still remodeling the older part. Once the facility is available, they will start cooking the “cruel” back in house.

Where did the $3 per meal number come from that HyVee charges? Under normal circumstances, it’s about 4 times that per person.
What about special dietary needs of the prisoners? Special diets for diabetics ect? I can`t believe HyVee is preparing those special meals without an extra charge for that.

We don’t know where the $3 figure came from, but in this day and age it seems reasonable. If it is an accurate figure, we don’t know if they could provide meals in-house any cheaper. We think this criminal rights thing is getting out of hand. And if you’re sitting in jail and not working, do you actually need three meals a day? Maybe if they started charging the inmates for their meals and making them pay for them with community service later, their tastes would change.

To the best of our knowledge there were no prisoners sandbagging. We believe it was city workers and volunteers from the public. If anyone knows for sure, feel free to chime in.
