Auction, finalist, and the weather

We’ve watched about 10 hours of the Barrett-Jackson auction. While we know they save the best for the weekend, we think the bidding so far has been on the low side. It also seemed like there were a lot of Monster Garage vehicles on the block. Let’s face it, vehicles sold at this auction are impulse buys and some say it’s a good gauge of the economy. If the economy is solid, the prices are way up there. When the economy is bad, the prices fall. We don’t know about that, but we’ll be watching anyway, especially Saturday.

One finalist for Police Chief says he fully supports the Guardian Angels. Jerry Mines responded to an email we sent and even included a picture of himself with Curtis Sliwa. He also appeared to be willing to answer questions and concerns as they arise.

It also looks like we’re going to get a real taste of winter this weekend. With weekend lows below zero we’ll have to bundle up to patrol. If you must be out, be careful. If your car breaks down it doesn’t take long to get yourself in trouble if you’re not dressed for the weather.

That’s a bit of what’s going on in our opinion. Comments on any subject are welcome.

Cruiser: when you have a minute, try opening Keith`s blog and see if it will open for you. Thanks.

Don`t miss Wednesday`s Committee of The Whole Meeting. It was obvious that Gene Meeker hadn`t read any of his packet, staff was late at getting materials out, some materials were missing, the meeting was taking too long, so several times councilmen asked for work sessions (that won`t be televised.) If that isn`t enough of a CIRCUS, one of the new alderman attended part of the meeting by PHONE. (it sounded like Justin.)

All that was missing was Bozo and his big nose.

It seems Keith Meyers blog is down. We don’t know if it’s intentional or not. Might be typepad doing sonething.

I’ve heard about the meeting. Seems the new and more civilized way doesn’t do so well first time out. It could be fun to watch, or at least interesting.

Can we give the council a honeymoon? They’ve been working TWO weeks. Give them another month to see if the kinks work out.
Meyer’s blog has seemed to be gone. Maybe he is changing the name of it.

No honeymoon as far as I`m concerned. They all knew that they would be sitting in those chairs since the election, and should have been comming up to speed all that time. At a minimum they should have at least been attending the committee meetings plus the council meetings so they had half a clue. They should have been reading all the materials prepared by staff. It was obvious that our new D1 At Large Alderman didn`t know if he was afoot or horseback. Actually he had the same blank face that the x-1st ward alderman used to have after drying out in the cellblock at the Scott County Detention Center.

Thank God we have Bill Lynn back on the council. His leadership in bringing the Guardian Angels to town, exposing the stormwater fee, standing up for the rights of the taxpayers; its been outstanding and is a good example for the new Council. Lets hope they all take a cue from Alderman Lynn. And, thanks to the wise voters of the 5th ward that saw through the BS that was being said about him and had the wisdom to re-elect him.
