We thought we’d do another short update on the Guardian Angels. Nothing much happened on the first patrol, a lot of the same questions, and some thank yous. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who think we get paid. I wish I’d take a camera to get the look on their faces when we tell them we volunteer. We don’t get paid and we buy the majority of our gear. We do appreciate the thank yous.
For the second patrol, Curtis Sliwa arrived, and interviews were given to TV6 by Mr. Sliwa and Alderman Lynn. I wasn’t along for the last patrol so can’t really say if much went on.
I did see something interesting toward the end of the first patrol however. Being a happily married man for many years I had never seen speed dating before. After seeing it while ordering coffee to go, I’m glad I’m not single. I’m sorry, but I just don’t see how talking to someone until a little bell rings is the answer. And with all the talking going on, I never heard so much noise this side of a dragstrip. Must be a generational thing.

Thanks to all of the angels that donate their time to try and keep Davenport a little safer.

I’m sure all the other Guardian Angels join us in saying you’re welcome. Now that we’ve been at it a while, we can’t see doing anything else on the weekend.
