With all the last minute rushing for Turkey day, we didn’t get to our email until a little while ago. The City Council Update for today was waiting for us so we thought we’d post the links. For the pdf file go here. If you’re a webtv user, the text file is here.
We would like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for. This year we feel our troops in harms way deserve our thanks the most. To all our brothers and sisters in the military we say thank you for keeping freedom free.
“Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.”

Was this fill dirt thing what you had mentioned as the fuel island relocation?

QCI,
The City is trucking in fill dirt to raise the refueling station above flood level. This didn’t make a lot of sense to us since if it floods City vehicles couldn’t get to the raised gas pumps anyway. We guess to somebody in government it makes sense.
If you are talking the infill information on the update, that concerns older neighborhoods. We have the information on that, but as far as we know it’s just in the talk stage right now.

I think the above ground fuel station on Marquette is needed so city equipment doesn’t have to travel to public work to fill up during the time around the 3 week flood dates. A lot of time is saved by having that station there, as we know time is money. I’m not sure that the location was the best but it was built on city property.

We should all be Thankful to Alderman Meyer for the past 4 years of excellent service to the taxpayers of Davenport. Hopefully Keith will consider being our alderman in 2 years again. Keith didn`t have much of a chance with big money working against him, and the voters didn`t see through D-1`s smear campaign against him. Thanks for everything Alderman Meyer.

I guess I’m surprised they’re keeping the fueling station anywhere near the riverfront, considering how it doesn’t exactly fit with Centennial Park.

The fueling station is needed, but to us it makes more senxe to put it out at public works, not on the edge of a multi-million dollar park. When all the improvements are done in the park, we feel this will look odd to say the least. And although we’re in the minority we give a nod to Alderman Meyer also and hopes he runs again.
