I’ve been so busy tweaking the truck I failed to mention some things going on the weekend. The AACA is holding their America’s Mississippi Valley Region national fall meet/car show. It will be from 11 am to 3 pm today on River Drive near the John Deere Commons in Moline. It’s free to the public, and about the only chance locals get to look at cars of the bygone era. Some cars are worth a million dollars, and some are historically significant. Craig Beek is bringing some of his brass-era Model T Fords. Since these cars are almost 100 years old, and not often seen by the public, it’s worth the price of admission just to see his collection.
In the Village of East Davenport, the local John Deere Collectors Club will host the 5th Annual Antique Tractor Show. There should be over 100 antique tractors in all shapes and sizes, and a few antique farmers as well. This event is 10 am to 5 pm today, and 10am to 4 pm Sunday. This event is also free to the public.
It’s supposed to be beautiful weather to enjoy these events, and although we won’t be attending, we hope some of you will.

Thanks for sharing about the tractor show cruiser. Early this morning I saw an antique tractor in absolutely perfect shape being trailored towards the east end of town. Now I know where he was headed.

So the PD is having free ice cream at Whitties.
Tin hat theory: This is a ploy by Bladel to lure Alderman Meyer in with a Triple dip Chocolate Chip cone in order to slap the cuffs on him. The charge will be cone leakage.

The scott county Humane Society is attempting to sell their building on Brady so they can build a New Building north of 53rd Street. You can bet that the taxpayers will take a bath on this one.

Oh, really? How do you know? Let’s see the proof. Hurry up and run for mayor and cut out all funding for the Humane Society. Don’t forget to ban all rental property.

The story about the Humane Society was on WOC channel 6 yesterday at 4:30 on the Paula Sands show. The person who was interviewed was the lady incharge at the shelter.

I didn’t see the show. But that is one use of our money I would support. Someone has to take care of the abondoned pets.

My apologies about not making my comment clear enough.
I’m all for taking care of abandoned pets, and animals that owners can no longer afford, or have the ability to take care of.
The point that I failed to make was that a just a few years ago, the Humane Society moved from River Drive and spent top dollar to purchase the car dealership where they are now located. Some basic remodeling was done at that time so the building could be used.
Now property values have really fallen on Brady, and it seems like each month, one more business fails. So when the Humane Society goes to sell it, they are going to have to sell it at a loss to move it. That is what I meant by the comment.
