Some thoughts

We’ve been just a tad busy lately with everything going on so we thought we’d clear up a few things. Family always comes first with me and my mother is in bad shape. So if I miss a few posts or comments, please bear with me. There is no timeframe on these kinds of things, and even though I’ve told both my parents I hope they live forever, I know that’s not to be. The next thing would be the blog. I am going to change over to this blog entiretly. I’m not sure if I can keep all the posts and comments, but I will do my best. I will have this done by late next week. We also have some work to catch up on, when I have the time. Somewhere I’m going to have to structure more output out of the 20 hours a day I’m awake. I also want to thank Alderman Meyer for this quick response to my e-mail, it means a lot. And to the couple of faithful posters, bear with me, it will all be here next week. In closing, the Guardian Angels will be back a week from this Saturday to give us more training. When the places and times of the demonstration patrols are announced please show up and walk along. If you can’t do that drive by and give us a thumbs up, believe when I say that means alot more to us than the TV cameras. As usual your comments are welcome.

Thanks cruiser for looking out for your parents. I always think it`s ashame when a few kids don`t want the hassle, and put their family into Ridgecrest. It is important for older folks to stay at home as long as they are physically able.

Also, the neighbors really appreciate you, and the other people that have stepped up to the plate and signed up for the Guardian Angels. This has been needed for so long, and hopefully it will clear up some of these gang problems.

At any of these meetings, did you happen to find out about the funding of the painting of the grafitti by United Neighbors?

Thank you for the kind words. I didn’t get a chance to talk to Jackie at the meeting. I will however call over tomorrow and find out. Grafitti is one of my pet peeves so if United Neighbors needs anything to keep the program going maybe we can help. As soon as I find out I’ll post on it. As for now, I’m off to another meeting, but this one involves the cars.

Well, did anyone notice the larger than normal presents of police officers along Gaines St from River DR. to Locust St. Listen to the NETS Officers working their magic pretty much most of the day. Good things are coming from the local Popo!

I wonder if the City Workers were overwhelmed with tree limbs and yard waste this week. I noticed this morning (Wednesday)
that there were quite a few people on the Tuesday routes that were not picked up yet.

Maybe Public Works should extend the free collection time another week to solve this problem.

    joe,
That’s all I’ve heard about. The Chief can’t say the Guardian Angels are a threat now, as soon as they left this happened.

    anon,
Sounds like a good idea to me. I don’t think public works realized how bad it was.

We need more officers on the street and if there is a camera on every street corner giving Davenport the revenue to support them, I say let those camera roll! Back in the day, community policing was the way it was. You knew the officer in your neighborhood and he knew you. Beat cop was the official name for him and the officer even got out of the car, walked and talked to the folks. I miss those days and the results they brought. I guess I’m showing my age now, but who cares, I can still dream that someday Davenport will be that fresh once again.
